MCP aims to be a cultural hub, a place open to hybridization and social inclusion, where citizens themselves become the driving force of artistic and cultural activity. The goal is to create an exemplary space for good cultural practices, capable of inspiring beyond regional borders. The project focuses on art, creativity, and people, both as users and content creators, in a process that unites cultural and urban regeneration.

Exhibitions

The exhibitions at Mercati Culturali Pordenone are conceived as opportunities for encounter and discussion around photography, the visual arts, and independent publishing practices. More than simple displays, they are spaces where dialogues are fostered between artists, professionals, and the public. Through its exhibition programming, MCP creates an accessible yet rigorous context, capable of engaging even those approaching for the first time, without sacrificing the quality of its research.

Die Gelbe Wand

Die Gelbe Wand (in Italian "The Yellow Wall") is a new space dedicated to international contemporary photography. An integral part of the Pordenone Italian Capital of Culture 2027 project, it was born with a specific international vocation, so that this city can become a point of reference for this discipline as well. Its activity will be dedicated to exploring the best of contemporary photography in German-speaking and Japanese countries. The name of this space is a precise reference to the beauty and magic of organized sports fandom, particularly that of a German football team. Unconditional participation turns a sporting event into something greater than the sum of its parts. It represents the best metaphor we have found to describe what we strive to do best: we are fans with love, seeking not victory, but surprise and heart-pounding excitement.

Events

Mercati Culturali Pordenone offers open and shared events, designed to foster participation and connection. These events naturally combine entertainment, learning, and socializing, transforming the space into a public space.

Artistic residencies

Superficie abitata (Inhabited Surface) is a series of artistic residencies created within the former supermarket on Via delle Caserme in Pordenone, now undergoing transformation into the Mercati Culturali Pordenone. Artists are invited to explore the site's memory and materiality to understand and create new narratives, reflecting on a space still under construction, where relationships and creative practices are replacing the exchange of goods.

Workshops

We offer courses related to the world of art and culture, designed for a variety of audiences: from professional courses for those who work or want to work in the sector, to more open sessions for those who want to learn, take their time, and develop new reading skills.
