Grandmother Said It's Ok

Stefanie Moshammer is a multidisciplinary Austrian artist working across photography, moving images, texts, installations, and books. Her work combines personal experience and social observation to create visual narratives that blend reality and fiction, exploring how social spaces influence behavior and memory. With humor and poetry, she addresses issues such as generational traditions, environmental change, and consumption, offering a critique of the status quo. She also collaborates with brands and magazines, creating bold, conceptual images, often with a psychological or performative edge.

In the exhibition "Grandmother said it's okay," hosted in Pordenone at Die Gelbe Wand (Pordenone Cultural Markets) and the Art Museum at Palazzo Ricchieri, the artist presents a personal approach to the theme of family memory. The work is rooted in the life of her grandparents in Upper Austria, characterized by simplicity and a respectful use of resources. Through photographs and found objects, Moshammer reconstructs these memories, reflecting on the transience of life and the value of small, everyday things. The exhibition's title thus becomes a form of empowerment and an invitation to rediscover the beauty in everyday life.
