Dialogue and live calligraphy performance with Francesca Biasetton.
Let's kick off the new year with Francesca Biasetton, calligrapher, illustrator, and performance artist. The evening will feature the artist creating live drawings in her sketchbook, while her latest book, "The Pencil Is Under the Table" (Lazy Dog Press), will be presented. It's a journey through notebooks, sketches, and notes that recount years of experimentation. Organized into sections on travel, nature, ideas, and letters, the book shows how daily practice transforms observation into drawing.
The event, organized by Associazione Obliquo, will be accompanied by a DJ set by The Very Selecta and an aperitif with Birra Galassia, concluding with a book signing that will offer the audience a firsthand, intimate, and engaging experience of the author's creative process.
Francesca Biasetton is a calligrapher, illustrator, and performance artist. After beginning her career in fashion illustration, she expanded her research to calligraphy, training in Belgium, Germany, England, and Italy. Among her best-known works are the opening credits for Giuseppe Tornatore's "The Legend of 1900" and the calligraphic slogan for the XX Olympic Winter Games. She has collaborated with institutions and companies such as Palazzo Ducale, Nespresso, Midali, and Starbucks USA, and her works are featured in Italian and international collections. Author of the books "La bellezza del segno" (Laterza, 2018) and "The Pencil is Under the Table" (Lazy Dog Press, 2025), she has taught calligraphy since 1997 and has been president of the Italian Calligraphy Association since 2011.
