La città, collezionata. Un ritratto con la roba d’altri.

Superficie abitata is a cycle of artistic residencies within MCP. The resident artists are invited to explore the memory and material of the former supermarket, reflecting on a space still under construction, where relationships and creative practices are taking the place of buying and selling.

“What does it mean to observe a city through the objects that move through it? How does the perception of a space change when ordinary objects acquire narrative value, becoming witnesses to everyday stories and unexpected connections?”

From these questions emerges the residency project of Alessandra Leta, which will be on view at MCP from October 10.

During her photography residency, Alessandra Leta transformed the spaces of the Pordenone Cultural Markets, formerly the Gusti e Sapori fruit and vegetable market, into a place of discovery and participation. The artist presented "The City, Collected. A Portrait with Other People's Stuff," a photographic installation in which objects collected from local shops become the protagonists of an imaginary collection: a portrait of the city seen through the things that inhabit it. By directly inviting the merchants to observe their objects in a new context, the project created a dialogue between space, community, and collection. At the same time, the city of Pordenone was observed through photography: urban views, everyday signs, and architectural details became visual notes that intertwine with the collection of objects, offering a complementary portrait of the city.

For the inauguration, each object from the fictional collection was made available to visitors, who could take it home freely or for a small token contribution. In this way, the installation was not confined to the exhibition space, but continued to live through the circulation of the objects.
